Tameside Netball Club was first formed by Ian Johnson & Paul Harper in 1997.
Ian & Paul were the parents of daughters who wanted to play netball and had no team to play in.
They started with two teams playing in a local league in Stockport.
As their Knowledge and experience grew, they started challenging teams at tournaments from already established clubs.
In 2005 Tameside Netball Club joined forces with Stamford Netball Club (est 1995) gaining a further 100 junior members and an already established senior section.
Since then Tameside has gone from strength to strength. The club now boasts 11 junior teams and 5 senior teams. We won our first National Title in 2006 and produced our first member to be selected for the U17’s England Long squad in 2007.
The good work and development of our players hasn’t stopped there. We currently have girls in the England Talent Programme, Northern Thunder and Leeds Carnegie ENTL Squads, Northwest High Performance, Manchester & Cheshire Academies.
All of this is made possible due to the hard work and dedication from our Volunteer staff. For our efforts we have been awarded GOLD Clubmark status from All England Netball and voted Tameside Club of the year.
Our Head coach and co founder, Paul Harper has been extremely busy through 2008. He has been voted Tameside ’Coach of the Year’, Northwest Coach of the Year, has been selected onto the England Netball Performance Programme and finally Head Coach of Northern Thunder ENTL
Want to be a part of it? If you’re a player or a volunteer that is interested in joining, why not call in at one of our training sessions for a chat with a member of staff.
